As We Enter This Year

As we enter this year, I've decided to accept and de-construct my fears

I'm no longer protecting forbidden sounds

This year I'll take steps off of the ground 

Cherish relationships that are profound

And allow my soul to go beyond pavements

That in the past were constricted to unwanted statements

This year is a new God-blessed time

To re-unite, love, and go beyond where thoughts can imagine  

Grateful for the pain and tears of this past year

Because without them, I wouldn't have gained the strength and courage 

To embrace new challenges with pride and the dignity to not allow fears to coincide 

With goals and love 

This upcoming year I will rise above.
